Unless stated otherwise, all of the figure pictures here are taken by myself, thus it's mine. I don't mind you to repost it to other site but please do not modified it especially taking off the watermark, and I'll be more appreciate it if you link it to the original post or credit me :)

[FiguReview]Nendoroid Churuya-san

"Anki-kun, Anki-kun? Can you do review of my Nendoroid?" "I'm not in the mood to do it." "Nyoro~n"

Well of course I can, Churuya-san! You're too cute so I can't resist to tease you for a minute there, but here the review of your adorable Nendoroid so every one can see your cuteness =3
Nendoroid Churuya-san
Dec 2009 release | 3000 yen | Good Smile Company

Character History
Churuya-san is a super-deformed version of Tsuruya-san from the popular series The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi that's a main character from a spin-off comedy series Nyoroon Churuya-san. As far as I know Nyoroon Churuya-san is originally a manga but there was also 13 short animes released on the web too. The "nyoroon" is Churuya's signature expression ((´・ω・`)) and line she often does through out the series when things don't go well for her. It was quite popular and became a meme.

Packaging
Comes with the standard Nendoroid packaging format with green and white as the main colors, matching Churuya-san's hair color and uniform, respecitvely. With the windowed box, you can see the figure and some accessories it come from the front box while there are some sample images showing poses Churuya can does on the rear box. On the inside the figure is put on a double blister to ensure its safety.

But maybe because it's older-released Nendoroid but I feel the blister used are somewhat not as solid as the recent Nendoroid. Not that it's important but I just feel like to mention it ^^

Set Content
Churuya comes with quite number of accessories to increase its play value. What will you get when you buy this set is:
  • Churuya figure
  • 2 extra interchangeable face parts
  • 1 extra interchangeable hand part
  • 1 pair of interchangeable hand parts for grabbing fork and knife
  • 1 extra interchangeable hip part
  • 1 extra ribbon
  • Knife
  • Fork
  • Plate
  • Table
  • Smoke cheese
  • Display stand

Sculpt
For most Nendoroids, I love the redesign into the super-deformed Nendoroid design. But an exception for Churuya-san case since I prefer the actual anime design of her. Not saying that the sculpt is bad, but between the hair which Nendoroid has it shorter and little curvy on the edge instead fall straight and also the leg part which not flat on the base making Churuya is impossible to stand without the display stand, yeah I prefer what she looks on the anime.

Maybe it's different for other people but I kinda like my figure to be able to stand on its own without a display stand so when I took picture of it, it makes the figure less..... figure. And speaking of stand, the stand comes with Churuya is the older version of Nendoroid stand that support the Nendoroid lower body part, not with connector to put behind the Nendoroid's back. This older stand limit the pose we can actually do, though on the other hand Churuya-san doesn't have a hole on its back.

Paint
The paint on the other hand is quite great. I don't have anything to complain. Well-applied and the gradation shade of the hair was nice.

Articulations
Churuya-san's articulations are the standard for Nendoroid. It doesn't have many joints but there are few numbers of swivel peg connector like on the arm, hand, and hip. The number of pose you can create may not be as many as Figma, SHF, or other action figure but still more than enough for you to play with or to be changed so it won't look static, along with the accessories it came with.

One thing though, the side hair of Churuya may hinder the movement of her arm, so you have to adjust her head before raising her arm.

Gimmicks
The interchangeable parts is Churuya-san, and most of Nendoroid, main gimmick. You can change the hand to the bent one to recreate her signature "nyoro~n" pose complete with the faceplate, or use another faceplate for the "nyoreroon" pose with drooling expression. And she also comes with interchangeable hip part so you can remove the legs part to the other hip so your Churuya can sit and looks more adorable to be  your 'pet' on your desk, ahaha. There's also interchangeable hand part to hold the knife and fork to recreate eating pose, with Churuya's favorite food, smoke cheese. Putting, and also removing, the knife and fork may be difficult and risky since it's kinda delicate, so be careful.

And of course almost all these parts are compatible with most Nendoroids, so you can cross swap it with all other Nendoroids you have. But, Churuya's faceplate is too........ round compared to other Nendoroids so it may not perfectly fit to other Nendoroids, and if you put other Nendoroids's faceplate to Churuya, since her front hair made for her round face, there may be a gap space on the forehead since Churuya doesn't have the bang to cover it too.

Pose
And finally, here are more pictures of Churuya and all her cuteness =3
Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful?

Hey Churuya, behave! Or I'll tickle you until you can't stand anymore! =3

Let's do part swap to Churuya-san~!!

And now vice-versa. Remember when I mentioned that Churuya's faceplate isn't perfectly fit on other Nendoroids? Here's the proof, I take all this picture with the face facing front because if I took in from the side, it can be seen that the bang/front hair can't be put rightfully ^^;

Now let's give Churuya more items and friends to have fun with =3

And lastly, group picture with other Nendoroids~!

End Verdict
Churuya-san is really adorable and cute, that's for sure, especially with that interchangeable hip part for sitting pose so you can display it on your work or study desk without a stand. But this nitpick part of me still disappointed because for me she's not as cute as her original design on the short animation, particularly the hair part. Though she is a regular release but as far as I know her price nowadays is raising (at least on here she is), probably because she is an older release or pretty famous with the nyoro~n pose. Not the best Nendoroid but if you find this and you have extra cash, I still think you should have bought it =3
